Three Things That Help You Relax: Scent, Words, a Hug

Natural scent. A written wish. A hug that stays.

Have you ever kept very small things?

A note with a few words. A small piece of your pet's fur. A button that fell off an old piece of clothing.

They connect you to someone, a memory, or a promise you want to remind yourself of.

First: Scent

You may already know that the scent of certain natural plants can make you feel calm.

Research confirms this.

In a 2025 review published in Current Pharmaceutical Design, researchers looked at multiple randomized controlled trials and found that aromatherapy with natural plant essential oils can effectively reduce anxiety levels. The study suggests that active compounds in these scents may influence neurotransmitters in the brain related to mood.
In another study, researchers tested plant-based scents in a dental clinic. They found that after inhaling natural scents, participants' self-reported anxiety scores dropped significantly.

In other words: when you smell certain plants, your body receives a signal that it's okay to relax.

When we chose the scent sachet for Ploofe, we spent a long time comparing different natural plants. They are natural, gentle, and unobtrusive.

Second: Words

You may have heard the term "manifestation."

Translated into psychological language, it's really self-affirmation — a research-backed mental tool.

In October 2025, the American Psychological Association (APA) published a meta-analysis reviewing 129 studies on self-affirmation, involving more than 17,000 participants.

 The findings showed:

Self-affirmation practice significantly improves overall well-being, social well-being, self-perception, and self-worth, while reducing anxiety and negative emotions.
What's more, these effects were not only immediate but also lasted (with an average follow-up of nearly two weeks).

So when you write down something like "I am already enough" or "I am moving toward where I want to be" on a small note, and place it somewhere you often touch — every time you touch that spot, it becomes a moment of self-affirmation.

This is a science-backed psychological tool.

Third: a Hug

A hug makes you feel better.

Research supports this too.

One study found that even a single session of deep touch massage can significantly reduce cortisol levels (stress hormone), by as much as 56%.

Another study showed that touch, even just gentle touch, was associated with a significant reduction in pain reports. The researchers noted: those who need comfort the most often receive fewer hugs.

That's why Ploofe's arms are designed to be long and heavy enough — not to keep the plushy from falling over, but so that the feeling of a hug can be truly felt by your body.
A hug that won't ask what's wrong. A hug that won't leave. A hug on your shoulder, whenever you need it.

Bringing the three together

Scent. Words. A hug.

Ploofe is more than just a plushy. It's your personal hug.

When you put these three together — inside something you hold often — they become a small relaxation tool you can use anytime.

All you need to do is hold it, take in the gentle scent, and rest your hand over where you placed your wish.

Every large Ploofe plushy comes with an openable heart and one natural plant scent sachet.
